Michael was born in 1978. Since age five he was been taught and coached by his father–a championship tennis player at the University of Michigan. Michael earned his first ATP points in 1997 . His singles ranking as of August 2011 is 99. “Iron Mike” is known as a determined competitor who plays defensively. His playing style has also been described as quick and clever.
